These links point to the pages
which list all surahs recited by that particular Qari, not this
particular surah. Simply select this lesson's surah, insha Allah
and download or listen to.
Tips:
You can follow the lesson outline in
order or mix and match to suit your needs. You might allot one or
two sections per day, depending on your schedule and level of the
student. I think lder students should be encouraged to do many
activities on their own, but teacher should take care to listen to
recitations and help as needed. I like my children to learn to be
independent but I also like spending time with them doing the
lessons and making sure they understand the material.

In
the Name of Allâh, the Most
Gracious, the Most Merciful
1.
The mutual rivalry (for piling up of
worldly things) diverts you,
2.
Until you visit the graves (i.e.
till you die).
3.
Nay! You shall come to know!
4.
Again nay! You shall come to know!
5.
Nay! If you knew with a sure
knowledge (the end result of piling
up, you would not have been occupied
yourselves in worldly things).
6.
Verily, you shall see the blazing
Fire (Hell)
7.
And again, you shall see it with
certainty of sight!
8.
Then on that Day you shall be asked
about the delights (you indulged in,
in this world)! |

II. Learning About This Surah
1. Reading
Read the Surah in Arabic and English
as in the beginning of the Tafsir. Teacher can read to student,
but older students should read it themselves (preferable in
presence of teacher).
Read the complete tafsir for this
surah (pp.575-581). Teacher can also break the reading down
into smaller parts, if desired.
Optional: As student reads the
tafsir, have him turn statements into study questions and write
them down. There is a form in the
Study Guide Templates Pack where student can record these
questions.
NOTE: During the duration of this
lesson, it is a good idea to have student read and recite the surah
daily while the teacher listens.
2. Vocabulary
A. Review
There are many basic words that
appear over and over in the Quraan. Quiz student regularly
on this basic vocabulary. You might dictate the English of
these words to student for him to write in Arabic. Keep a
list of missed words (student does not know definition or
spelling).
B. In this Surah
Teach vocabulary depending on the
student's level.
For more advanced students, use the
Ayaat breakdown form in the
Study Guide Pack to write each Arabic word and its
corresponding English translation. In most cases, teacher should
complete this activity with the student.
For students less advanced in
Arabic, pick out key vocabulary (especially nouns) and assign
activities to help them learn the words. Here are some
vocabulary words to use or get you started.. If you feel student
can handle more, select more words from the surah.
Students should know the following Arabic
terms at the minimum:
yaqeen, na'eem, jaheem, 'ilm, maqaabir, sawfa,
takaathur
Activities to practice the
vocabulary:
-
Write each
new word (x number of times)
-
Write review
words (x number of times)
-
Take
dictation on vocabulary words
-
Write the
current ayaat or surah
-
Alphabetize
Arabic/English vocabulary
-
Match
English to Arabic words
-
Given the
English word, write the Arabic word
-
Given a
clue, write the correct Arabic word
-
Unscramble a
word or ayaat
-
Supply the
missing letters in words or missing word in ayaat
-
Make
flashcards to review vocabulary and concepts
Also see TJ's Spelling Page for more spelling activities
3. Grammar
Here are some topics you might use
for grammar lessons:
These are just some suggestions. If
student has an Arabic class, try to match the concepts that they
are learning/have learned with those found in the surah.
4. Memorization
If student has not memorized this
surah already, set up a memorization schedule with the schedule
form in the
Study Guide Pack. Work together to establish a realistic
goal.
Schedule daily memorization
sessions, after salaat are often good times.
Have student use something such as
TJ's Hifz Helpers to help them keep track of their repetitions
during the sessions. With younger students you might also count
off the repetitions with your hands (counting up or down)

theme)

(vehicle theme)
5. Putting It Together
After completing the reading, assign
these activities to help student check and apply what they have
learned, insha Allah.
Recall:
Answer the following questions:
1.What distracts us from seeking the
Hereafter? List a hadith from the reading that supports this.
2. What three things follow you to the
grave? What two return? What stays with you?
3. What happens to the things you
purchase with your wealth? Give two examples.
4. Who is Allah's threat about not
seeking the Hereafter directed to?
5. What will we be asked about on the
Day of Judgment? Give three examples of this.
Think About It!
List three things that distract you from
seeking the Hereafter.
Allah blesses us with health, safety,
and sustenance. List some ways do we not fulfill our
obligations to these three things. List some ways we can fulfill our
obligation to these three things.
