Number Sense I

 

Odd/even

Goal: identify whether numbers are odd or even

 

Addition Facts to 10

Goals:

Review concept of addition (concrete (using objects))

Review/learn terms: addend/sum

Practice: facts to 5 (if not mastered already)

Practice: facts to 10 (if not mastered already)

 

Missing Addends (sums to 10)

Goal: Identify the missing addend in sums to 10

 

 

Subtraction Facts from 10

Goals:

Review concept of subtraction (concrete (using objects))

Review/learn terms: difference

Practice: facts, subtracting from  up to 5 (if not mastered already)

Practice: facts, subtraction from up  to10 (if not mastered already)

 

 

Number Sense II: Numbers 10 - 19

 

Building numbers 10 - 19 (Place Value)

Goal: Using a tens/ones, place value mat, build the numbers 10-19 in order.

 

Reading, Writing, Counting #s 10 - 19

Goals:

Student should be able to identify the numbers 10-19 when written at random; Student should be able to read a digit, and draw/show that many

Student should be able to look at a set of objects (or a worksheet with objects), count how many is in a set, and write the correct corresponding numeral

 

Comparing Numbers 10 - 19

Goal: Given several sets of 2 numbers, student should find the bigger/smaller of the two

 

Ordering #s 10-19

Goal: Given a worksheet (for example) of three groups of numbers, 10-19 out of order, student should order the numbers.

You may want to break up reviewing/learning by math tricks for particular facts or as follows:
