All sentences must begin with a capital letter and end with some type of punctuation (period, exclamation point, question mark).
There are four types of sentences in the English language:

Examples:
Statement: The masjid is far.
Question: Is the masjid far?
Exclamatory: The masjid is far!
Period: Go to the masjid and pray.

Building Better Sentences Activity ![]()
Practice building better sentences by adding details with this activity. Can be turned into a file folder game.
Activity idea to practice/review punctuation:
Print out punctuation cards. (They can be handwritten as well)
Orally give student a mix of sentence types.
Have student hold up the correct card for the punctuation mark that would correctly end each sentence.
Question Mark Practice Worksheets

I made these up as my third grader had trouble writing the question mark in the correct direction. Includes a writing practice sheet and exercises for identifying the question marks that are written in the correct direction.
