Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Who is your Lord?

Lesson

Before beginning lesson, review with student the meaning of the word Lord.

See "Three Things Lesson" for simple explanation of Lord, if necessary.

1.     Read:  Page 2: Usool uth Thalatha (not direct link to file)(Read to younger kids, older read on their own or with parent)

If you are asked, “Who is your Lord?” Say, my Lord is He who reared me by His bounty, created me from nothing and brought me into existence. The proof of this is His, the Most High’s statement,

إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ هَـذَا صِرَطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ ﴾

Verily Allah is my Lord and the Lord of you All, so worship Him (alone), this is the straight path.. [Surah Aali Imraan: 51]

2.  Record:

Write the Question, Answer (Allahu rabbee), and Proof in your notebook, dated (all work in Arabic and English)

Younger kids can write words, phrases, etc.—see Write it! section of lesson.

3. Reflect: Read the related Tafsir. There is really no elaboration on the ayaat itself.

Discuss:  meanings of Lord, worship, straight path (give examples of things which might be on the straight path).

4. Memorize the proof from Aali Imran this week; Try to recite it after each salat this week to practice it. See  Study Sheet.

Older kids can memorize on their own; work with littler ones.

5. English Language: (upper grades) Look up the following words and write each in a sentence:

Reared, bounty, existence, worship

Text Box: Be prepared to take dictation on these words on _________________ .

For younger students: Start a sentence and word book. Have a section for sight words and a section for sentences.  Add to the book with each lesson and have students regularly (daily or weekly) read the words and sentences.

This lesson’s words: who, is, your, lord, Allah, my .

This lesson’s sentences: Who is your Lord?   Allah is my Lord.

Review/learn capitalization of the first word of a sentence and proper nouns (Names). Why Lord is generally capitalized when talking about Allah; discuss ending punctuation.
